Sketchbook project last days
Would you believe I still have 13 pages to go and about 6 half complete pages, not to mention the work to do on the ones i don't like, and 4 days in which to do them. I have a strategy though. It involves the old maps, and the lot plans for old sub divisions. It's kind of cheating, but it works for me. Menawhile, I have decided to go with plain black cover. It's unassuming, and doesn't stamp and yell out "look at me"....
I have learnt a lot, an awful lot about my ideas and drawing skills with this project.
Lesson no. 1- I don't have a style. I have a million styles
Lesson no. 2 - I already knew this. It's called 'Grob Motoric'. Clumsy motor skills. It's why my lines are never straight, and my drawings look child like. And why my paintings are usually quite painterly. It's also why i crash into things.
Lesson no. 3 - I already knew this too -but this reinforced it. I want to go to art school. For me, once my ideas are flowing it is always a chain reaction of many more, but my skills can't keep up with my ideas.
Lesson no. 4 - A limited 'subject' works well for me. Constraints force more lateral thinking. Whilst i did not come up with a unified theme or style for this sketchbook I have been on an ideas adventure.
There are many more lessons of course - like get your shit together and finish the damn thing in time to post it!!!
